Historical Society plans fundraisers

    Salmon Brook Historical Society will have its third annual Tea and Quilt Show to support its two museums — Benjamin C. Wilder Farmstead and Aroostook Agricultural Museum.

    Tickets must be purchased in advance for $10 each for one of the three separate teas at different times on Sunday, Aug. 2. Tickets are available at 12:30 p.m., 1:45 p.m. and 3 p.m. This event occurs at the museums at 1267 Main Street.
    Please contact Wanita Hallowell at 863-398-0311 or Rita Kingsbury at 207-429-9359 for tickets. Make plans with friends to attend our Tea and Quilt show then get tickets now as they have sold out at previous shows.
    For the 2015 Raffle Quilt, to benefit Salmon Brook Historical Society and its museums, raffle tickets are available at $1 each or six for $5. Those who would like to purchase tickets on the quilt can send money for the tickets to Rita Kingsbury, PO Box 475, Washburn, Maine 04786. Please include your name and phone number. Upon receipt of your money, Kingsbury will make out the books of tickets and deposit them for you. The drawing is scheduled for October.
    There will be a meeting of the Salmon Brook Historical Society on July 23, at the Agriculture barn at the museum at 6 p.m. Desserts will be served and details of the quilt show and August festival will finalized.    All are invited to attend and volunteer to help at the festival.

Miss Washburn pageants

    The 2015 Miss Washburn pageants are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 1 at 7 p.m. and all five titles will be decided at that one pageant. The cost of tickets is $8 if purchased before the day of the pageant and $10 if purchased at the door. Tickets are available from any contestant or contact Kelly Hemphill at 488-4979.

Birthdays and anniversaries

    Those celebrating a birthday between July 15 and 21 include: Cindy Boot, Diane Easler, Kent Corey, Lila McCrum, Parker Sawyer, Andy Turner and Mike Farley.
    Those celebrating an anniversary between those dates are Tom and Susan Berube.
