Officers gain induction into Mars Hill Rotary Club

    The Mars Hill Rotary Club met July 7, 2015 at the Aroostook Health Center.  The special guests were District Gov. Wayne Wornes and his wife, Sylvie, Assistant District Gov. Floyd Rockholt and Presque Isle Rotarian Nancy Fletcher.

    Wornes spoke about the upcoming district conference in Moncton, New Brunswick on Sept. 11-13 and the Zone Conference in Rhode Island Sept. 23-27.
    The club’s 2015-16 officers were inducted. They include Richard Watson, president; Rena Kearney, treasurer; Kathy Miller, secretary; and Jim Shaw, Bernie McAdam and Ed Wright, directors.

Story Time

    The Walter T.A. Hansen Memorial Library is pleased to announce that it will be having Story Time.
    On Thursday, July 16, it will be open for children entering second, third and fourth grades beginning at 10 a.m. and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
    Once school resumes, there will be a story time for preschoolers. Library officials are very excited about this new venture and the chance to expand the awareness of reading to our young readers.

Bigrock Mountain Challenge

    Make plans now to participate, help out or come cheer as many brave souls take on the Bigrock Mountain Challenge obstacle course on Saturday, Aug. 15 in Mars Hill. For more information, go to www.bigrockmaine.com. 

Library news

    The Walter T. A. Hansen Memorial Library will hold its tag sale fundraiser at Grew’s on Main Street on Friday and Saturday, July 17 and 18 and July 24 and 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will also be open during this year’s Homecoming. The hours then will be Friday, Aug. 7 from 2-6 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 8 from 8 a.m.-noon.
    Those wishing to donate can call the library at 429-9625.

Aroostook Health Center

    Upcoming events for the week of July 15-21 include: Wednesday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., shopping and lunch at Walmart at 9 a.m. and crossword puzzles at 2 p.m. Thursday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m., a 100th birthday celebration at 1:30 p.m. and Faith Baptist at 6:30 p.m.
    Friday will feature five-card Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and a patio ice cream social at 1:30 p.m. Saturday is a free day with games, movies and puzzles available in the day room. The Full Gospel Assembly service is Sunday at 3 p.m.
    Monday will feature Coffee Chat at 9:30 a.m., Nail Beautiful at 10 a.m., communion at 1:30 a.m. and gospel group at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday will feature the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m., and card games at 1:30 p.m.
    All of these activities are subject to change. Those who would like to volunteer to help with any of these activities can call Connie or Vicki at 768-4915.

Bingo

    The William Cousins Post 118 of Mars Hill is hosting Bingo every Saturday evening from 7 p.m. until done. There are cash prizes. Refreshments are available. Come on out and enjoy a fun evening with friends!
