Younger grade enrollments are up in East Grand as evidenced by a huge turnout for summer school which started June 27 and runs through July 22. Grades pre-K through 7 are engaging in academic, hands-on and sports programs through the four weeks. Rocketry, Domino Math, work on literacy and reading, math skills and two weeks of basketball instruction and two weeks of soccer instruction are featured.

Program Director Nicole Aruda who teaches pre-K and is a literacy specialist at the school said the program is off to a good start.
“We have more than 65 children from Weston, Danforth, Brookton, Bancroft, Wytopitlock, Topsfield and students as far away as Levant are participating,” Aruda said. “These are our biggest numbers since we started the summer school program.”
The program runs from 8 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday and features a free breakfast and lunch and bus transportation for students
