Presque Isle bridal shop expands south

PRESQUE ISLE A local bridal business is marking its successful growth by expanding to Bangor’s historic downtown area.

Pancsofar’s Bridal Boutique of Presque Isle will open a second location in Bangor this winter under the name Blush Bridal & Formal.

The expansion comes as the realization of a dream for owner Courtney Wetzel. In November 2011, Wetzel bought Pancsofar’s and has since been looking to grow the business by opening at another site.

“This has always been our goal, and when we found this property, we knew the time was right,” Wetzel said. “We can’t wait to be part of the great energy and revival in the [Bangor] downtown area.”

The new store will occupy space at 15 State St. in Bangor, a former bank built in 1912 which Wetzel purchased earlier this month. The store will showcase prom, pageant and evening wear on the first floor, and the entire second floor will be renovated to house bridal and bridesmaids’ showrooms and suites.

“We have a great tradition of quality and service in pix and we look forward to offering that same experience to customers in Bangor. Pancsofar’s will continue to uphold those same standards and serve as a great support for our team at Blush,” Wetzel said.

Blush Bridal & Formal has an anticipated opening date of January 2016, and will offer a wide variety of prom, pageant, evening, bridesmaid and wedding gowns, as well as fashionable accessories and jewelry. The new store will continue working with many of the popular designers carried at Pancsofar’s, and will also add new lines that aren’t carried anywhere else in the state.

“We can’t wait to offer the central Maine region affordable access to the latest in bridal and formal fashion, as well as a unique experience that is catered to the individual,” remarked Wetzel.

She added both Pancsofar’s and Blush Bridal’s business model focuses on personalized, one-on-one service. Each bridal appointment is given a dedicated space and a personal consultant. To achieve this, Wetzel plans to add at least a dozen new jobs to the area.

She credits her employees for making this expansion possible. “We have an incredible team of ladies in Presque Isle who truly embody what our business is all about. It is because of them that we can step out and take on a new challenge.”

The Bangor space will be renovated by Rickards Custom Builders later this fall with an eye toward keeping the historic feel intact. A grand opening will take place in January.
