PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Nineteen players from the Caribou and Presque Isle recreation departments competed in the July 21 Northern Maine Community Recreation Association singles tennis tournament held at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
In the 10-12 year-old girls’ division, sisters from Caribou met in the finals, with Livia Bouchard defeating Ashlyn Bouchard, 8-3.
For 10-12 boys, Sawyer Deprey of Caribou was able to outlast Ethan Holdsworth, also of Caribou, by a score of 8-6.
Madison Stratton of Caribou doubled up on Kyra Thibeault, 8-4, in an all-Caribou final in the 13-15 girls’ division, while Caribou players also met in the finals of the boys’ division, with Alec Cyr able to stop Parker Deprey, 8-2.
The 16-18 girls’ and boys’ divisions were swept by Presque Isle as Hilary Boucher and Byron Winslow were the only players in their category registered to compete.
The NMCRA doubles tourney was scheduled to take place Tuesday at the Teague Park courts in Caribou.
