FORT KENT, Maine — Austin Theriault will be making a surprise appearance at Fort Kent’s Pelletier Ford dealership Thursday, Aug. 6, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. for autographs, giveaways and interviews.
“We just picked up his state of Maine-sponsored demo race car that will be on display and will have autographed ‘Hero Cards’ to give out all day,” said Steven Daigle, digital and advertising manager for Pelletier Ford.
“Austin will be racing his State of Maine car in the Poconos this weekend and will have lots to share about his season this year with his own racing team and the BKR (Brad Keslowski Racing) NASCAR Camping World Truck Series,” Daigle added.
Theriault’s family’s pulling trucks will also be on display: the original Ground Pounder, owned by Rick Theriault and originally built by his grandfather, Richard Theriault, along with Ground Pounder 2, which is his father’s pulling truck.
According to Daigle, Pelletier Motors has hired a “real” Monster truck which will appear during the muskie derby. The Ramminator, sponsored by Ram Trucks, will be arriving next Thursday to be on display for Friday, Aug. 7, and Saturday, Aug. 8.
“We are hosting a truck parade Saturday, Aug. 8, starting at noon from the Valley Motors dealership and welcome everybody to enter their truck into the parade,” said Daigle. “We are attempting the first and largest pickup truck parade in Maine.”
Later that day at 2:30 p.m., a monster truck show will be held at the dealership, where the Ramminator — the Guinness Book of World Records’ Fastest Monster truck at 99.1 mph — will be crushing cars, taking jumps and performing stunts. Tim Hall, owner of the Ramminator, will lead the parade through Fort Kent starting at 1 p.m. Aug. 3.
“Our goal for next year will be to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest pickup truck parade in the world,” Daigle remarked. “Northern Maine has the largest number per capita of pickup truck sales in all of Maine [based on] Polk and Auto trader data.”
