Healthy Aroostook creates guide to higher education

Healthy Aroostook, a local Healthy Maine Partnership and program of Aroostook County Action Program (ACAP), has developed a booklet to help link interested individuals to educational opportunities in Aroostook County.

“The project started off by bringing together local partners to discuss the process for increasing knowledge of how to access post-secondary educational opportunities in Aroostook County,” shared Dawn Roberts, ACAP community education specialist. “The group compiled a list of existing resources and then met to identify gaps. After several meetings and identification of programs, a one stop how-to guide outlining the process and opportunities for post-secondary education in Aroostook County was created.”
Nearly 500 copies of the Pathway to Higher Education in Aroostook County guide have been delivered to adult education offices and many community agencies throughout The County.
For a copy, visit any local adult education office or contact Roberts at (207) 554-4151 or droberts@acap-me.org.
Healthy Aroostook serves 46 communities with a focus on nutrition, physical activity, substance abuse, tobacco and worksite wellness. Its mission is to improve the health and well-being of Aroostook County citizens.
