HAPPY ENDING — Justice weighed only 48 pounds when he was abandoned on July 6 in the outside cage at The Central Aroostook Humane Society. He was severely malnourished with many health issues. He now weighs in at 70.4 pounds and has thrived over the past three weeks with the loving care he has received at the shelter.  He was adopted on July 30 and is seen here going to his new forever home. By now you have probably heard and seen pictures of sweet Justice, the dog that was found in our outside pens a few weeks back. What a heartwarming story.

The dog was extremely thin, rib bones showing, hip bones sticking out.  I have never witnessed a dog so malnourished. All I wanted to do was take him home and fatten him up.  Betsy and her wonderful crew and volunteers have done wonders for him.  After vet visits and tender loving hands to care for him, Justice is doing well, gaining weight and has such a beautiful way about him.

He loves getting up in the girls’ laps for hugs and kisses. As of July 30th, we are so pleased to report that Justice has recovered and has finally been adopted into a loving home, where he will know only love and compassion for the rest of his days.  We could not ask for a better ending to Justice’s struggles!

Shelter manager Betsy Hallett said, “It is so easy to imagine the worst of what his life has been due to his appearance when he came to us, but I see a very happy, neutered, obedient, housebroken, loving boy. Someone loved him, someone taught him; just someone could not feed him so they did the best thing for him. I am thankful we have had the pleasure of helping him along in his journey.”

We are so lucky at this shelter to have the staff and volunteers that we do. They are so good with each and every one of the animals. We may never know Justice’s full story, but at times he must have been loved because he knows commands and has a great demeanor about him.  We can all speculate where he came from: Was he lost and someone found him and dropped him at the shelter?  Was he a beloved pet of someone that passed away?  Did someone give him up because of financial hardship?

Well, one thing is certain — we are glad someone brought him to the Central Aroostook Humane Society.   We are so truly blessed to have our employees, Betsy, Sharon, Crystal and Dez….you all are truly the best! And special thanks to all the volunteers that helped out on a daily basis in giving Justice the extra care that has helped in his recovery.
