MARS HILL — Dustin Kyle McCrum, 30, passed away on August 5, 2015, at Mass General Hospital in Boston. He was born on October 19, 1984, in Presque Isle, the son of Lori York and Maurice McCrum.
Dustin earned his CDL license from NMCC in 2006, from there he went to work for Home Depot as a driver and trainer in many states. He then became an owner operator for Home Depot in Virginia. He moved back home to haul wood from the Golden Road to mills along the Quebec Border. Recently, he found his second family that he was so proud to be a part of, JDR Transport in his hometown of Mars Hill driving a shiny Peterbilt.
Dustin had an infectious smile that would light up any room. We all know he was quick witted and the life of the party. He loved spending time with his family and friends and there was never a dull moment when he was around. During his high school years, he was on the ski team and enjoyed racing motocross and snocross with his big “little” big brother Dirk. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his sons. He loved music and his phone was filled with trucking songs that he taught his boys. Dustin made friends wherever he went. Nobody could resist his smile, quick wit and kind heart.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Christina, and sons, Gage “Gager” and Tyler “TyTy”; brother, Dirk McCrum and favorite sister-in-law, Tara and nieces, Victoria and Kylie; grandparents, Donna Brewer “Meme”, Ernest York “Pappy” and “Aunt” Dorothy McCrum; aunts and uncles, Barbara, Bart, Peter, Patti, Abbi, David and Dana; several great-aunts, uncles and cousins and too many friends to list; parents-in-law, Maria and Louie Merrill; and brother-in-laws, Kenny Merrill and Jimmy Merrill.
Dustin was predeceased by his “Drammie”, Charlotte York, Robie Brewer and Gary McCrum.
Friends and family called from 1-3 p.m., Sunday, August 9, 2015, at Central Aroostook High School where a funeral service was held at 3 p.m., with Rev. Sue Brown, officiating. Interment was held at Kings Grove Cemetery following the service. A reception followed interment at Central Aroostook High School. Donations may be made in Dustin’s memory to The Marfan Foundation, 22 Manhasset Avenue, Port Washington, NY 11050. Online condolences may be shared at www.duncan-graves.com.
