Three Aroostook County municipalities are among the top four in Maine with the most affordable homeowner’s insurance, according to a recent report by SmartAsset, a New York personal finance company.
The company’s recent housing affordability study ranked Maine’s 10 “most affordable” cities, applying a city’s average insurance rate to its median home value.
Houlton ranked number one, with average annual homeowner’s insurance cited at $341; Caribou was second, with an average cost of $365; and Presque Isle was fourth, with an average annual price tag of $425.
