Preparation begins for 60th annual Rotary Radio & TV auction

HOULTON, Maine — The Annual Houlton Rotary Radio & TV Auction is a tradition in the region and this year marks the 60th annual event. The preparation has begun and Rotarians will be out soliciting for items to be featured for bidding.

The auction is the major fundraiser for the Houlton club and is made possible by the generosity of the businesses and individuals who donate items. Over the years the auction has helped to fund such projects as Derby Hill, the Amphitheater, the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum and the Just For Kids Playground and well as ball fields, the Houlton Community Arts Center and playgrounds at the Elementary School. The club also has annual projects they fund including Dollars For Scholars at the area schools, Salvation Army, Cary Library, Student Recognition Luncheon and the Rotary Youth Exchange.
Rotarians will be visiting area business over the next few weeks with every effort being made to reach all interested businesses and individuals.  If anyone is not contacted, however, and would like to have items featured in this year’s auction, they may contact the Auction Chair Matt Nightingale at 521-0455 ext 11011, Rotary President Jane Torres at 532-4216 or any Houlton Rotarian.
