ST. DAVID, Maine — Two men were arrested last Wednesday for allegedly stealing and selling $45,000 worth of potatoes from their employer.
Lloyd Voisine, 61, of St. Agatha and Paul Gervais, 69, of Frenchville were arrested in connection with the complaint.
According to Maine State Police Sgt. Chad Fuller, officials at the Cyr Potato Corporation reported to the Maine State Police on July 31 that they believed employees had been taking potatoes and selling them to local businesses and residents in the St. John Valley. The company believed this may have been happening over the past four and a half years.
Fuller said a lengthy investigation led to approximately $45,000 worth of sales of stolen potatoes. State Trooper Corey Hafford arrested the pair on Aug. 12, charging them with Class B theft.
Both men were summonsed to appear in the Fort Kent District Court on Nov. 2.
