Happy Days Club holding potluck lunch Thursday

 The Happy Days Senior Citizens’ Club met Aug 13 for a potluck lunch with 10 members and a guest present. The next meeting will be another potluck lunch at 1130 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27, in the recreation room at the Manor. Seniors, please join them and bring a friend.

It was a hot and sunny day as the Easton Recreation Department converged on Hartt Island Water Park and Mini golf.  Easton PTO correction

The first meeting of the Easton Parent Teacher Organization will be Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. at the elementary school. Childcare will be provided. The group is looking forward to fall events including the Harvest Party, Scholastic Book Fair and possibly planning a fun family event.  

Volunteers needed at food pantry

The Friends Helping Friends Food Pantry is looking for a couple of volunteers who would be willing to deliver food boxes to needy families in Easton every other month. Each month two vehicles are needed for about an hour on the third Sunday afternoon from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Each vehicle delivers food to two or three families. If able to volunteer, call Vaughn Martin at 488-6608 or email vaughnmartin@myfairpoint.net.

Sesquicentennial items for sale

The committee is currently selling the following items to commemorate Easton’s year-long 150th celebration, including 20-ounce glasses with Bears and Sesquicentennial logos for $8, glass coffee mugs with Bears and Sesquicentennial logos, royal blue T-shirts with sesquicentennial logos for $8, royal blue hoodie sweatshirts with sesquicentennial logos for $25 and two-tone caps or standard caps with Easton Bears logos or Sesquicentennial logos for $10.

School fundraiser

The Easton PTO is collecting BoxTops for Education as an easy way to earn money for the school. Ask friends and family to save BoxTops for you, send them a self-addressed-stamped envelope and have them return their BoxTops to you. Parents, be sure to put your child’s name on the envelope and turn it into classroom teacher.

Kiwanis meetings

Kiwanis Club of Easton meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 6-7 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall and every is welcome to attend. Dinner is provided for a small fee.

Upcoming rec activities

Everyone player was once a beginner and Mason Pelletier is no exception as he works on fielding at T-ball through the Easton Recreation Department.

Grades 1-2 soccer will practice at the elementary school behind the playground on Tuesdays from 3-4 p.m. starting Aug. 25, unless there is a game scheduled. Children must have sneakers and shin guards to participate.

Grades 3-4 soccer will practice at the elementary school behind the playground on Mondays and Thursdays from 2:45-4 p.m., unless there is a game scheduled, starting on Monday, Aug. 24. Children must have sneakers and shin guards to participate and a mouthguard is recommended.  

Grades 5-6 soccer games will be played on Saturdays in September and October.  Practices will be held on Tuesday evenings from 5:15-6:30 p.m. on the girls’ soccer field starting Sept. 22.
