PRESQUE ISLE – Pauline E. Dyer, 91, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 3, 1923, in Caribou, the daughter of Alvin and Phoebe (Devoe) Hodsdon. She married Elwood Dyer on March 3, 1956.
Pauline worked 14 years at J.J. Newsberry Co. department store in Presque Isle and then retired to raise her family. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who really enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pauline loved working in her flower gardens, and enjoyed her trips to Virginia Beach, VA, to visit her daughter. The family will miss Pauline’s special sayings.
She is survived by her husband, Elwood Dyer of Presque Isle; two sons and their wives, Lloyd and Sandi of Presque Isle, and Harold and Claire of Saco; her daughter, Linda Sluka and her husband, Steve of Virginia Beach, VA; eight grandchildren, Travis, Tyler, Tori, Aaron, Kris, Kristen, Nick and Danielle; three great-grandchildren, Brayden, Danika and Sophia, plus one that is due in ten days; and her dog, Coosha.
She was predeceased by five siblings, Edward, Almyra, Dorothy, Helen and Ruth.
Friends called 6-8 p.m., Thursday, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Funeral services were held 1 p.m., Friday, August 21, 2015, at the Presque Isle Wesleyan Church with Rev. Bernard Brown officiating. Interment was at Fairmount Cemetery.
