Washburn honored by Maine basketball hall
Ron Ericson, principal and athletic director at Washburn District High School, recently learned that a period of Washburn basketball history is being recognized with a display at the Maine Basketball Hall of Fame, located at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
The gold balls the team won from 1985-90 are being displayed at the shrine. The Beavers won four girls’ state titles and two boys’ state titles during that six-year period.
“This was a glorious time where our teams together reached the [Eastern Maine] finals for three consecutive years,” Ericson said.
