Reporters hired in PI, Caribou

PRESQUE ISLE — Officials with Northeast Publishing Company and Bangor Daily News have announced several staffing changes at their newspapers in Caribou and Presque Isle.
Anthony Brino, 27, of Portland has been hired as staff reporter for The Star-Herald. He will also report for the Bangor Daily News, a sister publication to the Presque Isle weekly.
A Pennsylvania native, Brino had most recently served as associate editor for Healthcare Payer News and Healthcare Finance News covering America’s ever changing health care economy. Prior to that he was a contributing writer to InsideClimate News where he wrote on the topic of natural gas drilling water management in western Pennsylvania, a New York landowners collective and waterless oil and gas drilling technologies. He also worked as a reporting intern for the Illinois Statehouse News before coming to Maine.
Brino completed an internship at WPSU, the public radio station in central Pennsylvania, and contributed to the Allegheny Front, while a student at the University of Pittsburgh where he received a BA in English with a concentration in journalism in 2011.

In other news, Christopher Bouchard, a Woodland resident, has been hired to report the news at the Aroostook Republican & News in Caribou.
A 2011 graduate of the New England School of Communications in Bangor with a degree in journalism, Bouchard, 26, interned at the New Maine Times in Bath before moving back to Aroostook County to pursue a career.
Most recently he had worked contributed as a freelancer for the TextLinkBrokers, Online, eCommerce, Online, Scripted.com and Zerys Content Marketplace, Online.
