The Sargent/Tweedie-Mars Hill/Blaine Bandstand will be presenting Fireman Fred and Karaoke on Saturday, Sept. 5 beginning at 4 p.m. Make plans now to come enjoy this fun time!
Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met Aug. 25. at the Aroostook Health Center and the guest speaker was Nick Archer. He spoke about the Washburn Park Project, which will be completed by the end of 2016. The dam and trestle crossing were removed and a walking loop, picnic area and more are being formed.
The dam has been in place for many years, used for mills before becoming a swimming hole. The swimming hole was closed a few years ago due to the water quality. The decision was made to remove the dam and form a park when money became available through a government grant.
The removal of the dam has opened up over 28 square miles of watershed area for the west branch of Salmon Stream.
Aroostook Health Center
Upcoming events for the week of Sept. 2-8 include: Wednesday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Young at Heart Senior Fitness at 9:30 a.m., and Residents Council at 2 p.m. Thursday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m., and BYF at 11 a.m. Friday will feature Five Card Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and music by The Countrymen at 1:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday will be free days.
Monday is Labor Day and will be a free day, but card games, puzzles and movies are available in the dayroom closet. Tuesday will feature the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m., and Cribbage Games at 1:30 p.m. All of these activities are subject to change. If you would like to volunteer to help with any of these activities, call Connie or Vicki at 768-4915.
Bingo
This week, the William Cousins Post 118 of Mars Hill is hosting Bingo on Friday evening from 7 p.m. until done at the Post. There are cash prizes. Refreshments are available. Come on out and enjoy a fun evening with friends!
