Contributed photo Buttons is a 5-month-old recently spayed female at Halfway Home Pet Rescue who is very eager for a home of her own. She has never known the comfort of a soft bed or sofa to take her naps. She is very clean, gets along well with other pets, dogs and cats, and loves people. Buttons would be very loving as a couch companion for an elderly person and, in general, she just wants a home and love of her own. Another 25 kittens and cats went to southern Maine, ready for homes that did not come about in Aroostook County. HHPR plans to do another transport in about two to three weeks. Make an appointment to view the cats by calling 999-1075. The HHPR’s Second Chance Thrifty Gifts is holding a bag sale until the first part of October. All proceeds go toward the medical bills of the cats HHPR rescues. New volunteer helpers are needed at the store for three-hour weekly shifts. Call Mary at 999-1800.
