We had some much needed rain this past week, which unfortunately put a damper on the Upper St John Valley Lady Seniors tourney. The ladies made the best of it and stayed and had a game day. Lots of laughs and fun … thanks for making the best of it.
This week’s results from Pairs and Spares Golf are as follows: There was a three-way tie with all teams scoring a 34. The winners were determined by a tie-breaker on the ninth hole. First place was Steve Merry, Dawn Merry, Brenda Carmen and Heidi Hollis, while second place went to the team of team Ricky Bates, April Bates, Tom Ryan and Jarice Kelley. Third place went to Stuart Kelley, Becky Kelley, Brent Kelley and Candy Kelley.
Pairs and Spares golfers meet on Sundays at 2:30 p.m. There is a $2.50 entry fee per person. Come join us!
On Saturday, Aug. 29, we celebrated our 50th anniversary Field Day. Divisional winners for gross were: A Division, 1, Scot Walker, 74, and 2, Warren Walker, 79; B Division, 1, Tom Ryan, 83, and 2, Ricky Bates, 88; C Division, 1, Steve Walker, 91, and 2, Kevin Carton, 101; and Ladies Division, 1, Bev Osborn, 92, and 2, Lou Ann Dwyer 99.
Divisional winners for net were: A Division, 1, Joe Clukey, 69, and 2, Stu Kelley, 70; B Division, 1, Chris Eastham, 64, and 2, Jon Smallwood, 68; C Division, 1, Peter Blood, 75, and 2, Scott Savage, 78; and Ladies Division, 1, April Bates, 66, and 2, Di Tucker, 77.
Our Twilight League is coming to a close. All playoff matches came down to a 1-point lead or a playoff hole! Our last two teams to playoff are Warren Walker and Bill Dwyer versus Tom Ryan and Pete Lawlor. Good Luck gentlemen!
Our next tournament is our Founder’s Day Tourney in honor of Vaughan Walker (the “Va” in Va-Jo-Wa) This event is slated for Saturday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m. This will be an 18-hole 2-person scramble. The team must have a combined handicap of at least 20. The cost is $20 for members and $30 for non-members. (cart fee is not included).
