UM System trustees gather Sunday in PI

     PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The University of Maine System Board of Trustees will convene in The County this Sunday and Monday, Sept. 20 and 21, 2015, on the University of Maine at Presque Isle campus.

     The trustees’ September board meeting will be held in the Allagash and Aroostook rooms in the Campus Center.

     Prior to the trustee meeting, space has been reserved for faculty and student representatives to meet, and the Academic and Student Affairs Committee will meet from 1-3 p.m.

     The Board of Trustees meeting will be called to order Sunday at 3:30 p.m. The agenda will a One University implementation update, a meeting with the UMPI Board of Visitors and a presentation on UMPI’s ongoing work with proficiency-based education.

     A reception will be held in the Reed Art Gallery at 6:15 p.m., followed by dinner in the Campus Center’s St. John/Aroostook rooms at 7:15.

     The business session will reconvene Monday morning at 8:30 a.m., to include a period of citizen comment, followed by reports from the chair, chancellor and various committees. Discussion will focus on the Maine Food and Agriculture Center, a change in name to reflect the growth of its commitment to Maine food-based industry and education, including agriculture, aquaculture and food processing.

     Other discussion will include financial updates, the food services contract and several action items, and a video will be shown on the Cooperative Extension STEM Ambassador Program.

     The trustees’ next meeting is scheduled for Nov. 15 and 16 at the University of Maine at Augusta.
