Classmates mark 70th reunion
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — On Saturday, Aug. 12, 2015 the Presque Isle High School Class of 1945 held its 70th class reunion at the Presque Isle Elks Lodge.
During a social hour, the 11 attending classmates and their guests enjoyed hot and cold hors d’oeuvres. Dinner featured eye of round beef roast with red wine gravy,chicken cordon bleu with mornaise sauce and seafood stuffed haddock, as well as roasted baby red potatoes, Aroostook stew and fried rice. All enjoyed freshly baked strawberry shortcake for dessert.
After dinner, Dick Ferland led the group in a time of reminiscences before they all enjoyed the music of Wendell Hudson and his friends, the Soggy Bottom Boys.
In speaking of the evening, Presque Isle Elks Exalted Ruler Alan Harding said, “It was a true honor for the Elks to have been able to be the hosts for these remarkable ladies and gentlemen. We look forward to seeing them again for their 75th class reunion, plans for which I understand are already under way.”
The eleven members of the Class of ’45 who attended were Rachel Smith Abrams, Avis Billings Chapman, Ethel Ireland Condon, Ronald Everett, Richard “Dick” Ferland, George Higgins, MD, Morris Laskey, Willis Laskey, Ruth Mersereau Martin, Gwendolyn Shaw McEntee and Elwood Roix.
