JOHNSTON, Frances M., 97, PRESQUE ISLE, September 13, 2015. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
PRESQUE ISLE – Frances M. Johnston, 97, passed away peacefully Sunday night, September 13, 2015, at a Presque Isle health care facility. She was born May 19, 1918, in Presque Isle, the daughter of David D. and Susan (Tardy) McEachern.
Frances was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning, reading, and going out with her friends. She was a bookkeeper for her husband’s business for many years and worked part-time at Northeast Publishing Co. Frances was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Presque Isle.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Drost and her husband, Larry of Mapleton; a daughter-in-law Gail Johnston; a granddaughter and her husband, Stephanie and Troy Stephenson, all of Presque Isle; two grandsons and their wives, Shad and Ronda Johnston of Presque Isle, and Jerod and Janet Drost of Warren; five great-grandchildren, Brycen Libby and Abagail Johnston, Sophia Stephenson, and Jalyn and Jayden Drost; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 40 plus years, Gerald F. Johnston; two sons, Richard and Donald Johnston; two sisters, Esther Susi of Pittsfield, Velma McEachern of Presque Isle, and a brother, James McEachern of Fort Worth.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Parish of the Precious Blood. Friends may call 10 a.m. Friday at the church until time of the Mass. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery.
