KENNARD, Walter R., MAPLETON, ME & MELROSE PARK, IL, at Melrose Park, IL, September 4, 2015. He will be interned at the Castle Hill cemetery alongside of his mom and grandparents.
MAPLETON, ME & MELROSE PARK, IL – Walter R. Kennard, “Gramp”, died peacefully at 4:37 a.m., Sept. 4, 2015, at the Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care Unit of Westlake Hospital, Melrose Park, IL, following a long illness with cancer.
Walter was predeceased by his father, Walter Kennard and mother, Guylia Birdie (Bull) Kennard of Mapleton, his sister, Dolores Cullota of Schiller Park, IL; and his step-sister, Dorothy Chasse of Ashland.
Walter is survived by his wife, Maria Kennard of Melrose Park, IL; his brothers, Theodore “Ted” Kennard and wife, Judy of Chatsworth, GA, and Wayne D. Kennard and wife, Judy of Mapleton, ME; his sister-in-law, Helen M. Condon of Mapleton; his half-brother, Henry J. Kennard of Providence, RI; and step-sister, Pamela Churchill of Washburn.
Walter will be remembered as possessing a kind and gentle nature, soft spoken, generous with what little he had, generous with his time, dedicated and faithful to his wife, Maria, was best bud to his mom. He gave generously from his essentials and not from his excess – he gave when others wouldn’t or couldn’t.
It’s been said that we should mourn coming into this world, but rejoice when we die because we are going to a better place. For all of you who are sad that Walter is passing from this world to the next, take comfort in knowing that he is in a better place, without pain or suffering but eternal rest and peace.
For all that he was and all that he gave in this life, the gates of heaven are opening up to him and there all the angels and saints will be greeting him with a standing ovation.
Walter will be interned at the Castle Hill cemetery alongside of his mom and grandparents.
