The third- and fourth-grade Premier League and the fifth- and sixth-grade World League began play recently as part of the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department pee wee soccer program.
In the World League, Real Madrid and Chelsea met on Aug. 31, 2015 and for Real Madrid, Lacey Rideout and Konnor Huckins were outstanding on defense and Jake Walton played well in goal. Jude Shea scored and unassisted goal. Chelsea’s Alex Levesque scored his team’s goal and displayed also great hustle all over the field. Selena Savage and Kevin Hoddie played great defensively for the team.
Also that day, Manchester United and Barcelona squared off. Ari Plante of Barcelona pushed the ball to the offensive end aggressively as he scored twice and helped teammates Alden Wilcox and Ryan Austin find the net as well. The great passing in this contest was the key. Jayden Picard’s strong ball handling skills and speed set up many of the runs. Bobby Caron, Emily Berube, Mackenzie Hite and Cailyn Kouhoupt all played tremendous defense.
Manchester United showed great strength in their first game together as a team. All players were used in a variety of different roles, giving each person an opportunity to discover what it’s like playing in different capacities. Manchester United played great defense, but came up a little light on the offense.
On Sept. 2, 2015, Manchester United came out kicking against Real Madrid. Clearly motivated but the loss two days earlier, Man U dominated this game. Everyone played superbly, even with the 80-plus degree temperatures. Real Madrid’s Justin Walton was the defensive standout in this match. Darian Langille played well in midfield with several key passes. Jude Shea and Ashlyn Bouchard each found the back of the net.
Chelsea won its game over Barcelona, 3-1, with Reese Cavagnaro, Alex Levesque and Anna Jandreau scoring the goals. Logan Griffeth and Selena Savage had assists. Oliver Petersen did a great job in goal, stopping many shots. Kevin Hoddie, Naomi Cote, Darrell Freeman and both Alexis Gustin and Alexis Whitmore did a great job on defense.
For Barcelona, Alden Wilcox scored the team’s goal off an Ari Plante assist. PJ McDonough was solid as goalkeeper. Griffen McNeal and Lauren Craig were the highlighted defenders in this match. Avery Knowles kept the ball moving up the field and had a great shot on goal that just went wide.
In the league for the younger players, the Red Bulls had an exciting goal in the second half of the game to put them ahead in their Aug. 31 match against the Timbers. Edison Sleeper assisted Amelia Godin as she blasted a ball in the upper 90 from about eight yards out. Red Bulls defense was outstanding, led by Dylan Bouchard, Madelyn Deprey and Jace Violette.
Mason St. Peter’s penalty kick tied the game with less than a minute to go for the Timbers. Logan White made four huge saves to keep the Red Bulls out of the net. Brianna Levesque played great defensively in the very fast-paced game.
Also on Aug. 31, the Crew scored two second-half goals as Keegan Bell notched his first of the season unassisted on a breakaway and then added an assist to Libby Collier, who netted her first. Landon Tracy continues from last season to be an outstanding goalkeeper and captured the shutout. Abby Haney and Jacob McDougal both receive credit with the shutout by playing excellent defense.
The Galaxy narrowly missed on several scoring opportunities by Ty Hunter and Ava Finelli. Great defense by Braxton McCrossin, Josh Pitre and Jonathan Cimino, physical toughness by Jayden Fournier and outstanding goalkeeping by Calvin Hersey and Brody Anderson kept the game close in a very exciting matchup.
The Galaxy jumped out to a quick lead Sept. 2 on goals scored by Calvin Hersey and Ava Finelli but the Revolution dug in and brought their team back. Tyra Sterner’s great hustle and ball control and aggressiveness by Joslyn Griffeth and Logan Duplessie were key in keeping the game within reach.
The Revolution played a great game. The first quarter was slow as they gave up two goals, but both offense and defense played hard. Revolution turned it around in the second quarter and did not score, but the defense did well to not give up any goals. The third quarter turned around even better with the defense playing very well. Luke Beidelman took the ball in for a score. Alex Belanger made two goals in the fourth quarter with one assisted by Luke Beidelman. Lauren Lister lead the defense with many great stops, while Alex Thibodeau, Leo Rideout and Deborah Uchendu played excellent defensive games.
The Red Bulls had a great game with D.C. United Sept. 2, scoring three times. Goals were scored by Dylan Bouchard and Madelyn Deprey off direct kicks and Edison Sleeper off an Amelia Godin assist. Jace Violette, D.J. Olson, Bella Sleeper and Matt Sneden had strong outings.
Nick Freeman and Corey Freeman each had two goals as they really had an offensive punch in this game. Pheobe Solomon also put a ball in the back of the net, which started the scoring rally in the first half. Dylan Arsenault had several great saves in goal while Tait Margeson played outstanding defense.
