Caribou Adventure Challenge
The annual Caribou Adventure Challenge will be held Saturday at the Otter Street Park and Ride, rain or shine.
Registration is at 8:30 a.m. and the actual event gets underway at 10 a.m. A $100 cash payout will be offered in the categories of top overall male finisher, top overall female finisher, first-place four-person adult team ages 19 and over, first-place four-person student team ages 19 and under and first-place family team (must have a minimum of three family members).
The distance is five kilometers and registration fees are $15 for adults and $10 for students, with $40 for a family of four and $5 for each additional family member. The first 50 to register will receive a T-shirt. Call 493-4224 for more information.
Boosters Club hosting test-drive fundraiser
The Caribou Athletic Boosters is hosting the 2015 Drive4UrSchool event Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Drive 4 UR School program is a fun, engaging way to help schools raise money to support their sports and extracurricular activities. Griffeth Ford Lincoln Mitsubishi of Caribou will conduct the test-drive fundraising event along with the boosters club.
For every valid test-drive completed, Ford Motor Company will donate $20 to the Caribou High School, up to a total of $6,000. So, the more people who test-drive a Ford vehicle at the event, the more money can be raised.
This will be the fourth event hosted by the Caribou Athletic Boosters and over $14,500 has been raised so far. Those signing up must be 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license. On the day of the event, choose a vehicle you want to test drive, fill out a form, take it for a drive and then fill out the backside of the form explaining how much you liked the vehicle.
Ford will donate $20 for each valid household which test drove a car. Taking place on the campus that day are varsity soccer matches against Ellsworth.
“I’m hoping with all the families and sports fans attending the sporting event that day at CHS, we will can get more than 100 people testing driving,” said Shelley Massey of the boosters club.
CMS boys play three, go 1-1-1
The Vikings’ boys soccer team from the Caribou Middle School was beaten for the first time this season Sept. 3, dropping a 2-0 decision to PI Blue. Caribou was only able to muster three shots on goal during the entire match.
On Sept. 9, the Vikes tied Houlton, 2-2, having to come from behind twice to force the deadlock. Alex Bouchard had both Caribou goals and Parker Deprey picked up an assist.
In the latest contest, Bouchard had a pair of goals and Brevin Barnes also found the back of the net in Caribou’s 3-2 triumph over Presque Isle White Friday.
Sawyer Deprey, Tiernan Barbosa, Carter Belanger, Cullin Caverhill, Brandon Jalbert, Jake Berkoski, Benoit Levesque, Jacob Paul, Riley Bouchard and Jordan Duplissie all were cited for their solid play during the past three games by coach Steve Perreault.
