BANGOR — The Nite Show with Danny Cashman will take its show on the road this fall to Aroostook County.
The Nite Show with Danny Cashman, a late night talk show produced in a similar fashion to shows hosted by David Letterman, Jimmy Fallon and Conan O’ Brien, will tape two episodes at the Houlton Community Arts Center on Friday, Oct. 23. The shows will air statewide on Oct. 31 and Nov. 7.
“This is the first time we are taking our show on the road like this outside of the Greater Bangor area,” Cashman said. “We’re bringing the Jump City Jazz Band, Joe Kennedy, our crew, students and faculty from New England School of Communications … everything! Luckily for the good people of Aroostook County, we’re bringing so many people with us, there is not any room left in the car for bad jokes. We’re leaving those at home.”
The show features an opening monologue, comedy bits, guest interviews and performances. The show also has its own house band – The Jump City Jazz Band – announcer, and live studio audience. Tickets to see the show being taped live are free, and available through the show’s website, www.TheNiteShowMaine.com.
“In all honesty, this show is unlike any other show in Maine,” said Cashman. “Part of the fun of watching the show live is seeing it being produced. The live audience gets the behind-the-scenes glimpse of a late night talk show, how hard students and staff from NESCom work to pull off such a technically challenging show, and they get to see things that don’t make it on television. What’s great about the show being on the road is that we’ll be incorporating a lot of Aroostook County elements into it. We are very excited about it and hope we see lots of friendly faces in the audience.”
The two shows will be taped back-to-back starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23 at the Houlton Community Arts Center. There is no cost for admission, but audience members must be aged 14 or older, and advance tickets are strongly encouraged. Guests for the two shows will be announced later.
“We have been airing The Nite Show on WAGM for about two years,” said Linda Connolly, national and regional sales manager/program director at the Presque Isle-based TV station. “It’s a unique show that is locally produced and we’ve had nice feedback on it. By bringing their entire show to Aroostook County, I think they will see a lot of interest in what they are doing, but they are also showing a tremendous commitment to the viewers here. We’re excited to welcome the crew, and we look forward to what they have planned.”
The show normally originates from Husson University’s Gracie Theatre in Bangor. Regular episodes of are broadcast statewide on Saturday nights. The Nite Show is seen in Aroostook County Saturday nights at midnight on WAGM FOX8.
Tickets for the taping in Houlton and all future shows are available through the show’s website, www.theniteshowmaine.com.
