HOULTON, Maine — RSU 29 has a new district website to coincide with the start of the new school year. The new website, www.rsu 29.org, was unveiled to board members during Monday night’s regular monthly board meeting.
“We tried to keep the site simple,” RSU 29 Superintendent Ellen Schneider said. “The charge was, we wanted the site to be user-friendly for parents and community members, as well as faculty and staff. We also wanted it to reflect what we do, so we wanted to see kids on our website wherever we could.”
Designed by Dewayne Morse, the website prominently features “Pride” as the word of the year. The word of the year is a concept Schneider came up with when she took over as superintendent back on July 1.
The site features an ever-changing calendar of events going on in the district, including such things as field trips, sporting events, musical concerts, school board meetings, as well as Adult Education class information.
“We thought it would really nice to have one central calendar that will provide information for parents, especially those with children in multiple schools,” Schneider said. “We are still populating the calendar (with new events).”
Based on a Google platform, the calendar can also be downloaded onto a person’s individual calendar on their computer or smartphone. A full list of the school’s policies is also available.
“I really feel that our website is now starting to reflect who we are, and as we continue on, we will update it,” Schneider said.
