OAKFIELD, Maine — A 16-year-old Oakfield juvenile, and a 15-year-old passenger were injured Friday evening when the driver lost control of the vehicle on a bridge and struck a guardrail on the South Oakfield Road.

According to Maine State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Clark, the youth was driving a 2009 Toyota, traveling west, when the driver lost control of the car at about 7:40 p.m., crossed into the eastbound lane, hitting the guardrail head on, causing extensive damage to the vehicle.
The juvenile did not have a valid driver’s license, but did possess a valid operator’s permit. The operator and passenger were transported to Houlton Regional Hospital by Houlton Ambulance for non-life threatening injuries.
Speed and driver inexperience is a factor in the crash. The youth was charged with operating without a license.
