HOULTON, Maine — A group of 29 youngsters took to the Houlton High School soccer field Sunday afternoon to participate in the annual Elks Soccer Shootout. Area children age 13 and younger were eligible to participate.
Organizers feared the shootout might not take place after rain fell early Sunday morning, but by noon the clouds dispersed and the sun came out, making for a perfect late-summer event.
The local winners, and runners up, advance to the district shootout, slated for Oct. 4 in Presque Isle. Those winners include: Gabryelle Gentle (Girls U-10), Chloe Michaud (Girls U-8), Dominic Madore (Boys U-8), Allison Worthley (Girls U-8), Michael Fitzpatrick (Boys U-8), Carissa Michaud (Girls U-10), Breanne Barton (Girls U-12), Eden Davis (Girls U-12), Cameron Callanan (Boys U-14), Elijah Neureuther (Boys U-12), Craig Stackhouse (Boys U-12), Kohl Skehan (Boys U-10) and Michael Hardy (Boys U-10).
