PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Local children were the focus for two recent activities of the Presque Isle Kiwanis Club.
Working with other community groups, the club presented Kiwanis Kids Day at The Forum, which featured three hours of fun events and prizes. Contributing to the event were Cary Medical and Pines Health Services, Care & Comfort, MMG Insurance, the Presque Isle Rotary Club, the Aroostook County Action Program, Presque Isle Fire Department, local Cub Scouts, local pageant queens, Job Corps, volunteers and friends and family of the Kiwanis Club, and high school students from both Presque Isle High School and Central Aroostook High School in Mars Hill.
The committee was comprised of Sherry Locke, Deidre Mahon and Kathie Beaulieu.
The club also donated 16 backpacks, fully loaded with school supplies, to Pine Street Elementary School in Presque Isle. This is the fifth year the club has helped in this way to prepare local kids for the new school year.
Members delivered the backpacks in person to the school.
