MARS HILL NEWS

The Mars Hill Rotary Club met Sept. 22, 2015 at the Aroostook Health Center and the special speaker was Rodney McCrum of Pineland Farms.
He said the new name was chosen to better represent the products that they now offer. In addition to their many potato varieties, they now offer seven different cheeses and four spreads.
The recent expansion is well under way and will allow them to double their output. The automated system currently puts out 60 trays of product a minute.
Cheese products are aged at least six months before being packages for sale. They will also be offering beef products at some point in the future.
The cut potato products have a shelf life of 50 days, while the mashed have a shelf life of 65 days. They stock product in many major retail stores as well as supplying many foodservice customers and restaurants.
The company is offering excellent benefits for their 170 employees and also is working hard to keep family farms as their suppliers. They are proud to be known for bringing products “Fresh from the Farm — Minutes to the Table.”
