Personnel with the State Police Commercial Unit, the Maine Warden Service, and the Caribou Fire and Ambulance Department worked last Wednesday to reconstruct the fatal accident on the U.S. Route 1 Connector in Caribou.

Robert Deschesne, 40, was driving the dump truck north on Route 1 at the time of the accident. The driver of a 2007 Honda CRV, Robert Plummer, 84, of Fort Fairfield, was declared dead at the scene. His wife Rachel Plummer, 83, died later at Cary Medical Center.

Personnel with State Police Commercial Unit, the Maine Warden Service, and the Caribou Fire and Ambulance Department worked at the scene Thursday to reconstruct the accident.

According to the Caribou Police Department investigator, the accident occurred as a result of Mr. Plummer’s failure to yield.
