HOULTON, Maine — A new pastor has taken the helm at Shiretown Baptist Church. Joshua Brewer of Edgewood, Md. was welcomed as pastor during an Aug. 30 installation service. That service also included a message by the church’s retiring pastor, James Gardner; Gardner has served as leader at Shiretown Baptist for the past 12 years.
Pastor Brewer moved to Houlton with his wife Darci and their five children: Aubri, Alissa, Caleb, Grace and Hope. The Brewers have spent the last 11 years at New Life Baptist Church in White Marsh, Md. where he served as youth pastor.
Brewer was ordained to the ministry at New Life Baptist and during his time there he also served in many other capacities, including leading men’s retreats, jail ministries, visitation and more. Brewer is a 2004 graduate of Boston Baptist College where he earned a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies.
