CARIBOU, Maine — Caribou High School student Benjamin C. Ezzy was recently named a Commended Student in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program for his college placement test scores.

This title is only awarded to about 34,000 students for ranking in the top 5% of more than 1.5 million other PSAT test-takers.

“I feel honored to receive the Letter of Commendation for my hard work,” said Ezzy. “I like to challenge and push myself to learn. I look forward to using this to help me in the future.”

Ezzy, a member of the CHS Class of 2016, is still uncertain about his future college and major of choice, but his teachers are certain that he will excel, regardless of what he chooses.

“Ben was going to Caribou Middle School while I was working there,” said Caribou High School Principal Travis Barnes. “Even there, he was a very dedicated student, and he has always done an exceptional job of challenging himself.

“This award really speaks to his character. I think it’s very likely that he will take a challenging selection of courses once he attends college,” Barnes added.

“I’d like to thank all the dedicated teachers I’ve had over the years for their support and for pushing me to be the best I can possibly be,” said Ezzy.

“It is quite an honor,” said Guidance Counselor Mark Pinette. “We look forward to him achieving great things in the future.”
