Doris M. Plourde

 

     CARIBOU – Doris M. Plourde, 90, passed away September 23, 2015, in Caribou surrounded by her chidren. She was born in Caribou on May 22,1925, the daughter of the late Francois and Josephine (Sanfacon) Belanger.

     Mrs. Plourde was a longtime member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, was a mem- ber of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. She was a member of the Lister Knowlton Post 9389 VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

     Doris married the late Clifford Plourde January 17, 1944. She was a devoted, car- ing, loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, godmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Along with raising their nine children, she also helped Clifford man- age the responsibilities of a potato farm. She enjoyed cro- cheting afghans and dish cloths, designing placemats from greet- ing cards, and making puzzles, which she gave to those whom she loved and cared about. Doris also enjoyed cooking and many loved her popular fudge. She will be remembered and missed by all who knew her.

     She is survived by her five daughters and three sons-in- law, Janice and Harold Cote of Connor, Shirley and John Staski of Glastonbury, CT, Linda Lajoie of Connor, Lorena Fenlason of Holden, and Laurie and Scott Daniels of Plainville, CT; four sons and three daughters-in- law, Maynard and Marie Plourde of Caribou, Galen and Laura Plourde of Greenville, SC, Arnold Plourde of Marietta, GA, and Richard and Susan Plourde of Connor; six brothers and four sisters-in-law, Joel Belanger of Manchester, CT, Wilson and Louise Belanger, Nelson and Rozali Belanger, and Walter Belanger, all of Southington, CT, Richard Belanger of Ogunquit and Bernard Belanger of Newington, CT; two sisters-in- law, Wilma Belanger and Mona Belanger; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

     Mrs. Plourde was prede- ceased by her husband, Clifford; two sons-in-law, Robert Lajoie and Wallace Fenlason; five sisters, Blanche Cowett, Cecile Guerrette, Irene Lajoie, Louise McNelly and Joan Spezialli; six brothers, Alfred, Patrick, Louis, Edward, William and Aurele Belanger.

     A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday September 26, 2015, from the Parish of the Precious Blood Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt Thank You to all of the caregivers at Caribou Rehab and Nursing for all of the fine care and compas- sion given to their mother these past 30 months.
