CARIBOU — The Caribou Inn and Convention Center will be the site of the 2015 Arthritis Symposium this Thursday, Oct. 8.
A highlight of the event will be the Zimmer Mobile Learning Center. The state-of-the-art center is a traveling education vehicle that provides training to orthopedic surgeons, nurses, other healthcare professionals and community members on a wide range of orthopedic topics and treatment options. Tours will be available to the public free of charge from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
The mobile display puts on 40,000-plus miles a year in its travels across the United States, sharing the latest orthopedic technologies with healthcare professionals and the general public alike. The Zimmer “bus” has pull-down workstations, high-tech audio/visual components, backlit display frames and a variety of products from the company.
The handicap accessible center also includes seating for 25 and a hospitality area. Zimmer invites visitors to get an up-close look at a range of orthopedic products—knee, hip, and shoulder implants, to name just a few—and encourages a hands-on experience.
More than 1,000,000 total joint replacements were performed in the United States every year. The sheer number of procedures has driven a significant rise in the interest in orthopedic technology and the parts being used in joint replacement.
