MIAMI, FL. & PATTEN — Vicki Jean Bates, 66, passed away October 2, 2015 at Larkin Community Hospital in South Miami, FL. She was the first daughter of Frank Otis and Pauline Bates. She was born July 2, 1949 in Island Falls, ME. She grew up in Patten. Vicki was a member of the first graduating class of Kathahdin High School in 1968, but also often spoke of her high school years at Patten Academy. She then went onto graduate from Plus Grays School of Business in Portland, ME where after graduation, she procured a job at Blue Cross & Blue Shield Insurance Agency where she worked from 1969 to 1977. Vicki then moved to Miami, FL where she worked for Florida Blue Cross & Blue Shield for 33 years as a supervisor. After her retirement, she worked for Towers & Watson Business Management Consultants in Coral Gables, FL. Vicki loved her career and was an avid lover of the arts. Vicki made many friends along the journey of her life as many have said: “Vicki was always upbeat and could make us smile with her quirky jokes and great personality. We loved her dearly”.
Vicki is survived by her mother, Pauline Bates Withee of Patten, ME; sister, Betti Jo Michaud, and her husband, Thomas of Crystal, ME; brother, Ricky D. Bates and his wife, April of Patten; nephews, Jonathan Michaud, Adam Michaud, Garth Bates; niece, Chelsie Brayall; great nephew, Cameron Michaud; great niece, Cloee Michaud, and many, many cousins. She is survived by her soulmate and best friend of 44 years, Gene R. Page of Coral Gables, FL. and good friends, Georgie Garcia and Sue Boyd.
Vicki was predeceased by her father, Frank O. Bates Jr., her stepfather, Alton C. Withee Jr., and great nephew, Kohen A. Michaud.

Friends may call from 11-12 p.m., Thursday, October 8 at Bowers Funeral Home in Island Falls with funeral services at 12 noon with David Raymond officiating. Interment will be at the Patten Cemetery.
