Digital planetarium demonstration coming to science center Saturday

    On Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., the Francis Malcolm Science Center, located at 776 Houlton Road in Easton, will offer a program entitled “Warped Media: To Infinity and Beyond.”

    Please join in on this program on new digital planetarium technology.
Added to a traditional planetarium, this system allows programming beyond the sun, moon and stars to an expanded range of educational and entertaining subjects. Participants will also enjoy model rocket launches, interactive lobby displays and light refreshments. For more information, call 488-5451.

Harvest party

    The Easton Parent Teacher Organization is planning a harvest party Saturday, Oct. 31 from 10 a.m.-noon at the Easton Elementary School. The group is in need of small toys (happy meal size) to use as prizes for games at this event. Donations of candy, prizes and volunteer time are always welcome.
    There will be games, a cake walk and more! Admission to the event will be an item for the Easton Food Pantry. The pantry is in need of canned fruit, rice meals, corn, soups, pasta meals and cereal, as well as stuffing, cranberry sauce, canned gravy and canned fruit mix for Thanksgiving boxes. Happy Days Club Update

    The Happy Days Senior Citizens’ Club traveled to Lakeview Restaurant in Sinclair for lunch Oct. 8 and 12 members and guests participated.
    The next meeting will be a potluck lunch on Thursday, Oct. 22 in the recreation room by the Manor. Their guest speaker will be Dottie Sines of Aroostook Area Agency on Aging. She will discuss the benefits of Laughing Yoga. Seniors, please join in and bring a friend!

Trunk or Treat returns to Easton Wesleyan Church

    Join in for a great time of trunk or treat starting at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. There will be movies with popcorn in the church following the trunk or treat. Starting at 6 p.m., they will show a Veggie Tales Short “Where’s God When I am Scared?” and after a brief intermission, starting at 6:45 p.m., the feature show will be “The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything: A Veggie Tales Movie.” Those who would like to join the fun with your “trunk” should contact Pastor Tony to reserve a spot by calling 551-0777 or send an e-mail to pastortony@eastonwesleyan.org.

Junior Exhibition planned

    The Easton High School Class of 2017 will be presenting its Junior Exhibition on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. This year’s presentations will be literary pieces from the 1850-70s in honor of Easton’s Sesquicentennial.
    Tickets are available at the door and are $5 for adults; $3 for students, $2 for senior citizens and $12 for a family of four or more.

Recreation department calendar

    Wednesday, Oct. 21 — Junior Activities from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Hall; no yoga due to instructor’s inavailability.
    Thursday, Oct. 22 — Happy Days Club meets at 11:30 a.m. in the recreation room at the Manor; Girls Day afterschool from 3-4:15 p.m. at the Hall.
    Friday, Oct. 23 — Junior Activities from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Hall; Game Day in the Manor recreation room starting at 11:15 a.m. Please bring a bag lunch .
    Monday, Oct. 26 — Senior Nutrition Class starting at 11 a.m. in the recreation room at the Manor. The cost is $3 and lunch will be served. The group will make pumpkin chili and cornbread; Kids Cooking after school until 4:15 p.m. at the Hall.
    Tuesday, Oct. 27 — Halloween movie after school at the Hall until 4:15 p.m.
    Wednesday, Oct. 28 —  Junior Activities from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Hall; yoga from 2:45-4 p.m. at the Hall.
