Crafters and donors needed
for Festival of Trees benefit
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — It’s not too early to start thinking about Christmas trees, and participants in the second annual Festival of Trees are already hard at work aiming to boost holiday spirit while raising funds for a worthy cause.
Organized by Friends of St. Apollonia Dental Clinic in Presque Isle, the festival will be held Dec. 4-6, 2015 at the Northern Maine Community College gym, and the call is out for organizations and businesses to help.
Each sponsoring entity is asked to donate a fully decorated artificial tree, which will be on display for the three-day event, along with any extra gift items they may wish to include.
At the festival, visitors may purchase raffle tickets for their favorite trees, and the winner of each gets to take home the entire tree and any associated gifts.
The festival will feature food and beverages for sale, and the “Gingerbread Cafe” will offer homemade baked goods. All proceeds will benefit the nonprofit clinic, whose mission is to provide dental care for children in the area.
Decorations may involve a theme, and donors are urged to be creative in their quest to garner plentiful ticket sales. Among those getting an early start on their trees are the Crown of Maine Quilters, whose members gathered recently to stitch handmade decorations for their tree.
Trees will be set up for the event on Thursday, Dec. 3, from 2-7 p.m.
