HOULTON — Houlton’s Downtown Committee continues its efforts to explore new options for the town’s business district and will meet Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 6 p.m. at the Houlton Higher Education Center, Room 124.
Over the last few months the group has been meeting regularly and has put together a list of short term, mid-term and long term goals. Most recently they are focusing on the short term goals and working on putting a timeline on them. The goals include items addressing parking issues, signage, updating the Downtown Plan, sidewalks, vacant buildings, events, marketing, flowers and planters for next summer and downtown restrooms.
Because so many parking issues were identified a Parking Sub-Committee has been established which will meet before the next Downtown meeting so an update report can be given.
All individuals interested in the progress and success of the Downtown are invited and encouraged to attend the meeting on the 27th. For more information, contact Nancy Ketch, community development director, at 532-7111 or comm.development@houlton-maine.com.
