Time sure flies, doesn’t it? It seemed that just yesterday we were enjoying the last Thursdays On Sweden of the summer and now the Caribou Fall Arts & Crafts Festival is upon us and October is nearly over! Incredible!

But, yes, it is time for the arts & crafts festival and it is the Chamber’s big event of the year. We are once again sold out and have a waiting list for vendors. That is how good this show has been over the years. Vendors do not want to miss this one!
Just in case you haven’t seen or heard, the event takes place Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 24 and 25 and runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.at the Caribou High School. The Caribou Rotary Club will be there selling food in the cafeteria and there is also the very popular baked potato bar.
Admission is only a dollar for adults and that covers you for both Saturday and Sunday. And the admission also gives you free admission to door prizes to be given away every half hour during the event.
Last year we were just shy of 2,000 paying attendees. I can’t tell you if that is more or less than the past because we never had a way of knowing how many people came! I can tell you the high school parking lot was full all the way to the Woodland Center Road!
The Chamber will also have the very popular Caribou charm bracelets for sale and Caribou key chains! I’ll see you there!
Other things on the schedule for the coming month include Small Business Saturday on November 28, Santa’s Workshop on December 4 and Caribou Hometown Christmas will be December 10. Stay tuned for more details on these events as we get closer to them.
The Chamber ran out of time to sponsor a candidate meet and greet this year. We apologize and will get back to that next year. In the meantime, the Chamber will come up with some sort of informational or voting record (when applicable) on issues that are meaningful to our members.
Our foliage season started late this year, but, boy, has it ever been spectacular! Do you drive around and see the views? My wife and I have been and our scenery is truly among the best anywhere. I’ve driven all over Caribou, Woodland, New Sweden, Stockholm, Madawaska Lake, Cross Lake among many others. Fabulous!
And people do come to see what we can easily take for granted. I know because they stop in here and ask me for advice on routes for best viewing. Speaking of things like this, I have seen an uptick in requests for relocation packages recently. Yes, folks, people do want to come here!
That’s it for this week. I’ll see you up at the High School this weekend! And have a great week!
