LITTLETON — Garth F. Golding, 69, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 15, 2015. He was born July 7, 1946 in Houlton, the son of John and Marie (Crouse) Golding.
He loved both his family and church family at the Lake Road Free Will Baptist Church and his community. He will be sorely missed by his wife as well as his children and granddaughter. Garth was a graduate of Houlton High School, Class of 1964 where he was an active member of the FFA and served as an officer. In 1970 he married Nancy Walton. He was a well-respected farmer, mechanic and trucker who always had time to listen to whatever was on your mind. In his truck driving days he answered to the call of “chicken inspector” over the CB. He enjoyed fishing, watching wildlife, talking with friends, trucking and spending time with his family. Garth loved being in the fields and working in his shop. He was a devout Christian and member of the Lake Road Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and past trustee. Garth was also a member of the Monticello Fish & Game Club and a member of the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum, past officer of the Maine Truckers Association. He also served in the Army National Guard.
Garth leaves behind his wife of 44 years Nancy Walton-Golding; two daughters Stephanie and husband Ryan Umphrey of Washburn, Rachael and husband Skip Davis and special granddaughter Sadie of Guilford, Maine. Garth also leaves behind four siblings, Preston and wife Saundra of Baltimore, MD, Brent and wife Linda of Littlestown, PA, Kerry and wife Sandy of Littleton, Cynthia and husband Daryl Garland of Jackson, TN; a sister-in-law ,Susan and husband Keith Nason of Littleton; mother-in-law, Mabel Walton; four close nieces and nephews, Stephen and wife Darcie Nason of Monticello, Rob Nason of Hermon, Holly and husband Tyler Henderson of Falmouth, Heather Golding of Littleton, along with several other special nieces and nephews.
Garth had many friends, but especially will be missed by Lynn Foster, Gary Cullins, Mike Mills, Mike Hogan, Colby Shaw, Dana Wright, Barry Campbell, David Henderson, Bill Tardy, Harold Hoyt, Danny Cote, Herschel Conlogue and Pastor Carl DeMerchant.
He was predeceased by his parents and his father-in-law, Robert Walton.
Friends called the Lake Road Free Will Baptist Church on Monday, Oct. 19, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Carl DeMerchant officiating. Interment was held with military honors at the Littleton Cemetery.
