FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — On a day reserved to celebrate ghosts, goblins and things that go bump in the night, kids and their families in Fort Fairfield will be treated to a day full of fun, food and festivities.
Beginning at 2:45 on Halloween afternoon (Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015), kids will line up to take part in a costume parade that will end with delightful fun: exciting games, interactive activities, a hot dog roast and a bonfire being just some of the treats the kids have in store.
The Fort Fairfield Chapter of National Honor Society organizes the annual Fall Fun Fest as one of their community service projects. The event is a great opportunity for members to give back to their hometown.
“The National Honor Society students really get into planning and executing Fall Fun Fest,” stated NHS adviser Garrett Martin. “It is a great chance for our older students to interact with their peers and serve as mentors to younger students. Plus, this year it happens to fall on Halloween, so everyone will be in the spirit!”
Fall Fun Fest will kick-off with a costume parade, beginning at the Community Bandstand on Main Street. Lineup begins at 2:45pm with kids in costume storming the streets on their way to the Community Center. At the Center, kids will be treated to a host of activities beginning at 3:15 including pumpkin painting, cookie decorating, a bean bag toss, and gourd bowling. There will also be a hot dog roast and a bonfire.
The National Honor Society partners with the Fort Fairfield Chamber of Commerce to organize Fall Fun Fest and receives generous support from businesses and organizations throughout the community.
“Without the support of the Chamber and other community groups, this event – with kids planning, organizing, and interacting with other kids, would not be possible,” said Martin. “More than one hundred kids attend this event annually, and thanks to everyone’s help and the dedication of our NHS students, we know it will be another success again this year.”
