HOULTON, Maine — Candidates seeking election to the Houlton Town Council will have an opportunity to participate in a “Candidates Forum” on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015 at 7 p.m. in the town council chambers.
This year’s event is once again being sponsored and moderated by WHOU staff members. In previous years, the Greater Houlton Chamber of Commerce put on the forum.
The forum is a chance for candidates to answer questions, posed by members of the public. There are three candidates for two available seats on the town council.
The three candidates seeking two available three-year seats on the council are Paul Cleary, Rosa McNally and Sue Waite-York. Each candidate will have three minutes for opening remarks and then the same question will be asked of each person. Each candidate will be given two minutes to respond with a 30-second warning at the 1:30 mark.
The polls will be open for voters on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the Gentle Memorial Building, 128 Main St., from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Residents can register to vote at the polls and make any name/address changes. Those registering are asked to bring proof of residency and ID.
