HOULTON, Maine — The Houlton Town Council bid a fond farewell to two members Monday evening during a brief council meeting.
Councilors Dan Peabody and Phil Cloney, whose terms expired, opted not to seek re-election to the board. The two served one, three-year term on the council. Neither individual made any farewell comments to their fellow councilors.
Chairman Wade Hanson presented both men with a gift for their service. “Thank you Dan and Phil,” Hanson said. “You guys really brought a lot to the council and helped keep the tax base where it should be and helped to encourage development throughout the community.”
“I will miss you guys,” added councilor Jane Torres. “It has been great working with you both.”
In other business, the council accepted a donation of $78.48 from Vital Pathways to be used toward the ongoing cost of surveillance cameras in Riverfront Park. The board also accepted a grant in the amount of $570 to be used toward the cost of sirens/speakers for the Houlton Police Department.
The next meeting of the Houlton Town Council is slated for Monday, Nov. 9, 2015 at 6 p.m.
