PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Athletic Department is beginning a new fundraiser.
The Owls’ Action Auction will be a dinner/auction held on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at the Presque Isle Inn and Convention Center. As participation and teams grow, this fundraiser will be pivotal to promote and develop the athletic programs, which will then carry them to the next level.
“Like most places, funding is crucial for the advancement of our athletic teams,” said UMPI Athletic Director Mike Holmes. “In addition, we think a fundraiser can reach out and involve one of our best untapped sources — our tremendous athletic alumni base.”
The program will include a raffle, a discussion by head coaches on their upcoming or recently-finished seasons, and an auction. Raffle and auction items include: sports memorabilia, gift certificates to Presque Isle businesses, team gift baskets and some surprise big ticket items.
UMPI is a member of the NCAA Division III and sponsors 12 varsity sports: men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, golf, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s skiing, baseball and softball.
“We would love for this to be an annual event that not only greatly benefits our athletic programs, but will be a fun night to which people can look forward and place it as a staple on their November calendar,” Holmes added.
