HOULTON — Betty L. (Brewer) Williams 88, Houlton, passed away Friday, October 23, 2015. She was born June 10, 1927 in Monticello, the daughter of Ashley and Gertrude (Miller) Brewer.
Betty was a graduate of Bridgewater Classical Academy, Class of 1945. She was a member of the Houlton Military Street Baptist Church and the Carpenter Class. Betty was very active in the Grange; the Subordinate of Houlton #16, the Aroostook Pomona Grange, the Maine State Grange and the National Grange. She was active in the Business and Professional Women’s Club and the Rebekahs of Houlton. Betty will be remembered for her employment at SL White Drug Co., always loved to visit with the customers and took great interest in their families. She was a great hostess and cook. Friends and family were always welcomed to her home for a home-cooked meal, followed with a time of story telling with Ralph, Jr. and Betty.
Betty is survived by her two daughters, Mary Lou Fowler and her husband, John, of Island Falls, Barbara Pettit and her husband, George, of Houlton; three very special granddaughters, Jennifer Fowler Thompson and her husband, Clint, of Brunswick, Joleen Fowler Lilley and her husband, Matthew, of New Gloucester, Chelsey Pettit Weeks and her husband, Tyson, of Houlton; one- great granddaughter Addison Weeks; four great- grandsons Kaleb and Collin Thompson, Gabriel Lilley and Abram Weeks; her sister, Iona Nadeau, her brother, Jay Brewer; her sister-in-law, Carol Sewall; many special nieces and nephews.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Ralph L. Williams, Jr., her sisters, Velma Pembroke, Annie Ross and Shirley Hanning, her brothers, Alvin Brewer and Carlton Brewer.
Friends called on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the First Baptist Church (Court Street) at 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Dennis Ashley and Rev. David Raymond officiating. Interment was held at the Evergreen Cemetery. There was a time of fellowship following the interment at the First Baptist Church (Court Street), everyone is welcome.
