Hawks, Warriors ousted from playoffs

The postseason came to an abrupt end for boys soccer squads from Hodgdon and Southern Aroostook Friday as both the Hawks and Warriors were eliminated in the preliminary round.

No. 3 Ashland 6, No. 14 Hodgdon 0 — At Ashland, the Hornets picked up a 6-0 shutout over Hodgdon. Ashland’s Jarrett Beaulier recorded a hat trick to lead the Hornets to victory.

Kyle Beaulier opened the scoring nine minutes into the game with a shot from the 18-yard line. Jarrett Beaulier scored to give Ashland a 2-0 lead at the half.

In the second half, Kyle Beaulier tallied two more goals and two assists. Jarrett Beaulier and Lucas Craig each added a goal as the 10-4-1 Hornets pulled away for the win.

Timothy Tarr stopped all six shots he faced for Ashland. Dalton Wilde made 15 saves on 26 shots for 6-9 Hodgdon. The Hawks end their season with a 9-6 overall record.

No. 10 Southern Aroostook 1, No. 7 Washburn 2 — At Washburn, the visiting Warriors nearly pulled off the upset, but fell just short. Noah Caron scored twice for the Beavers, while Justin Davis and Kevin Jordan each chipped in a goal for Washburn (9-5-1).

Jackson Mathers netted the lone goal for SACS (7-6-2).
