Public luncheon to benefit fire department

LITTLETON, Maine — The public is invited to join the Southern Aroostook Soil and Water Conservation District for a luncheon Thursday, Nov. 12 at the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum in Littleton to raise funds for accessories for a “Rescue Tube” recently purchased through the Littleton Fire Department.

The rescue tube is available for use by emergency responders throughout the surrounding communities and is an important piece of equipment used in rescue operations in grain silos. Tom Quint, dairy farmer in Hodgdon, will discuss his own rescue from a silo this past year, along with Ricky Tidd, Hodgdon’s assistant fire chief, and Dwight Cowperthwaite, Littleton fire chief.

A free-will donation will be taken to help pay for rescue tube accessories such as hoses, clamps, and fire hose adapter with all donation proceeds going directly to the Littleton Fire Department.

The event begins at 11 a.m. and costs $9 per person. Pre-registration is appreciated by contacting the SASWCD at 532-2087 x101 or by email, angela.wotton@me.nacdnet.net.
