PIHS students plan first Walk for Hunger
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Presque Isle High School Social Studies department would like to announce the first-ever PIHS Walk for Hunger on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015.
Realizing that hunger is an ongoing problem for many residents of the community, the students would like to raise awareness and collect non-perishable food items in order to help alleviate the strain on local food pantries.
The walk will begin at the high school at 8:30 a.m. and will end at the Industrial Park. Donated food may be dropped off at Presque Isle High School or brought to the starting point on the day of the walk.
Food items will be distributed to the Homeless Shelter of Aroostook, the Aroostook Band of Micmacs Food Pantry and Grace Interfaith Food Table (GIFT).
